About the Band
‘Project Haze’ is an alternative indie pop band that formed in the Bay Area, California. The group started practicing cover songs in a small parking garage near the Geneva district in San Francisco. Using starter practice amps and broom sticks for mic stands.
Together, Project Haze went through different band members as well as having changes to their band names such as ‘4 Hours Ago’ and ‘Eighth of a Dime’ and with each reform to the group’s sound would change as well. The band eventually started to establish themselves with their current members, Jonovan Godinez (Vocalist, Guitar), Gabriel Silva (Vocalist, Lead guitar), and Andrew Zuniga (Drums). Eventually ‘Project Haze’ got connections with ‘Hyde Street studios’ to work closely with their producer ‘Will Chason’ on fulling developing the band into establish artist and bringing their ideas to life. In late 2023, the band introduced bass player Bill Groen, who took over after their previous member, Adrian, departed the band in mid 2023.
The renaming of the band to ”Project Haze” was made to capture the vision of the new musical direction. Their sound combines elements of rock instruments (guitars, bass, drums, piano), with much more modern composition utilizing synthesizers, drum machines, and sample packs. The biggest influences of ‘Project Haze’ are The 1975, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, Coldplay, Tame Impala, and many others.
Songs such as ‘Til Heaven Comes’ utilize smooth pop, synth grooves, with heavy drum samples, and ‘Serotonin’ is a much more classic indie pop song with mostly acoustic elements.
